Research Internship. Interns will provide administrative and research support to researchers. Duties include: literature reviews; assisting with data collection; designing charts, graphs, and tables; answering phones; and filing. Qualifications: Strong organizational skills; good interpersonal skills; interest in policy research and women's issues; and experience with statistics, economics, or social sciences through coursework. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge of STATA, SPSS, SAS, and graphics software a plus.
Communications and Outreach Internship. Interns will provide administrative and editorial support to the communications team. Duties include: assisting with proofreading; article clipping; assisting with media outreach; layout and design of Fact Sheets and Research-In-Briefs; and IWPR website maintenance as needed. Qualifications: Detail-oriented individual with good writing and computer skills; knowledge of Pagemaker 6.5, Adobe Photoshop, Quark Xpress, or other desktop publishing software preferred; familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel required; layout and web design experience with programs such as Microsoft Front Page or Macromedia Dreamweaver a plus.
Development Internship. Interns will provide administrative and grant research support to the development team and will have the opportunity to learn about nonprofit fundraising, grant applications, and direct mail programs. IWPR receives support from foundations and government agencies, as well as individual and organizational supporters. Duties include: assisting with direct mail, data entry, grant research, grant-writing, and fundraising. Qualifications: Should have an interest in fundraising and nonprofit management; prior experience with fundraising at any level is desirable, but not required; familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel required; and knowledge of Microsoft Access preferred.
Interns will provide administrative, accounting, and technical support to the Institute and will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the day-to-day management of a nonprofit organization. Examples of duties include: technical support with computer, email, network, and phone troubles; accounting support, including payroll and accounts payable; and support with publication organization and ordering. Computer science, Accounting, or Business majors preferred, though a student with any major is welcome to apply.
All IWPR interns must have good computer skills, excellent writing and communication skills, and an interest in women's issues. Prior office experience is desirable, as interns are responsible for a certain amount of general office work, such as photocopying, answering phones, filing, and maintaining the library.

The Spring Internships go from January to May, and starting and ending dates are flexible. These are unpaid, part-time or full-time positions. We ask that Interns work at least 10 hours per week.
